Personally i have no problems with this bug because most of the stuff i make nowaydays is all made in Logic with softsynth and the odd old analogue synth or drumpcomputer i record i just synchronise Logic to the offset created by the OSX MLAN driver. Hi Guata, I have a 01X for a couple of years now, i bought fairly quickly after it came out because it was a decent all in one solution and overall i am fairly happy about it. I must say that there are some serious issues with the current MLAN driver in OSX, one of biggest issues is the 'random offset problem'. I can go into details telling you what it is but is described really well at 01X forum: Also i must note here that Yamaha now stopped waiting for Apple to fix this and is currently developing their own MLAN driver: Personally i have no problems with this bug because most of the stuff i make nowaydays is all made in Logic with softsynth and the odd old analogue synth or drumpcomputer i record i just synchronise Logic to the offset created by the OSX MLAN driver. I have not compared the 01X to the M-Audio because the M-Audio projectmix wasn't released back then. No soundclips of your music geez.
One of the most musically literate of the New Wave songwriting sect, Joe Jackson slowly graduated from acerbic-yet-tuneful, Elvis Costello/Graham Parker-indebted spunk to the sophisti-pop and yuppie rock of his most successful period, with Night and Day and Body and Soul both acting as perfect soundtracks for all the Gordon Gekkos and Patrick Batemans of 1980s NYC. Fool, his first studio album in 4 years and 21st overall, splits the difference between his two best-known eras. A song like “Fabulously Absolute” strips off the soft edges Jackson is so often fond of and transports us back to late '70s England, evoking not only Look Sharp!
But the hyperactivity of early XTC as well. On the other end of the spectrum lies “Strange Land,” a patient ballad that is as smooth as smooth can be.
Drenched in jazz piano and atmospheric synths, it moves at a languid pace, propelled by Jackson’s powerful and unique singing voice. With a career spanning over 40 years, Jackson isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel here; he’s comfortable in his own sound and knows where his strengths lie. Thankfully, Fool puts them all on full display. After trying out some synthesizer touches for their last album Low Tides, Long Beach, California's This Wild Life is back to keeping it acoustically real on Petaluma, an album as sunny as the sunflower depicted on the cover art. Producer Ryan Hadlock utilizes the same polish he brought to the Lumineers (which is most evident on the sing-along single 'Headfirst'), and the band brings their strongest collection of songs to date, making for a satisfying listening if you're cleaning the house or driving with the top down.
Low takes bleak melancholy into a whole 'nother direction with their innovative latest, Double Negative. Fractured, startling, and experimental, the band known for creating the 'slowcore' movement still imbues their work here with the desperate beauty synonymous with their name -- but this isn't the Low you've heard before. What's remarkable about these songs is how spacey the atmospherics get while Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker's lyrics are so firmly here and now. Imagine seeing that one ex (you know the one) out doing everyday stuff.and the way it makes you spin out into cosmic, existential thought patterns. Somehow that's exactly what Low are conveying through the experience of listening to 'Dancing and Fire,' to name just one excellent example from this thoroughly moving LP. It's impressive to see a steadfastly killer band like this evolve into a new mode of being; this album's already getting 'best new' nods from a number of publications and seems likely to be pretty high up on the year-end 'best of lists.'
